Ruyton-XI-Towns, St John the Baptist

6 bells, tenor 9-3-13 in G                 Ground floor                    SJ 394222

Wednesday: 7.15 - 8.30

Sunday: 10.30 - 11.00 (3rd Sunday)

The treble, second and tenor were cast by John Taylor & Co. in 1868 and the remaining bells at the same foundry in 1937. They are all flat-topped and are hung from metal headstocks in a wooden frame. (Pickford 6.4: A6, B1, C2, D3, E4, F5). The bells are currently rung from the base of the tower although there are plans to install a ringing gallery. Some of the ropes fall closer to the walls than is comfortable for ringers of fuller figure.

The church stands at the head of the village street, along which will be found 'The Talbot' (or 'The Dog') which is usually reliable and sometimes excellent for food.
